Hi there, fellow amateur food cooking persons!
My name is Kat and I created this site because I love to cook. (I’m also terrible at writing down my recipes, so this is partially an attempt to correct that behavior. ? )
I like to cook all kinds of food, and as this site grows, I hope to expose my wonderful readers to meals that are delicious and easy and interesting. (I have an 8 year old with an unadventurous appetite. I get it, y’all!) I always test my recipes on a variety of palates before posting them here, so I can promise the food is good! As far as skill level goes? Well, it’ll vary. I’m not a trained chef by any means, but I’m not uncomfortable in the kitchen either. I grew up in South Louisiana, and I spent 10 years working in New Orleans, Louisiana, as a server, bartender, and manager at various restaurants across the city, which is where I learned about food and wine and my passion for eating lovingly prepared food developed into what it is today. Currently, I live in Toronto, Canada, and I love it. There’s lots of fun food to try here!
Also, don’t freak out if one day you see me post a simple recipe for my mom’s famous squash buns and then the next day post something like cracked black peppercorn crusted fish prepared on a salt block & cooked a la planca with tandoori spiced brussel sprouts (with panchetta cubes and garlic) topped with a lime and basil butter sauce. It WILL happen. I will walk you through every last step, I promise. Over time, you will also see posts about kitchen tools and how/why they are used and cared for. I mean, everyone has a spatula, but not everyone has a fish spatula, but everyone should have a fish spatula! I use mine for pancakes and eggs. ??? Do you even know what a sauce whisk is? I literally just found out 2 minutes ago when I watched a “How To Make A Butter Sauce” video. That’s why I’m writing this blog.
